DAY 01 – LIMA TO TARAPOTO
Fly from Lima to Tarapoto City and then after arrival straight out to a birding site call “UPAQUIHUA” which is a semi-deciduous forest south of Tarapoto, with box-lunch.
Where the main targets are: Northern Slaty Antshrike, (<em>huallagae</em> race), Sulphur-bellied Tyrant-Manakin, Planalto Hermit, Lafresnaye’s Piculet, Stripe-chested Antwren, Chestnut-throated Spinetail, Pearly-vented Tody-Tyrant, White-bellied Pygmy-Tyrant, Varzea Thrush, Ashy-headed Greenlet and more.
Late afternoon back to Pumarinri Lodge.

DAY 02 – PUMARINRI LODGE TO PLATAFORMA
After an early breakfast we will start our trip to Plataforma which is south of Tarapoto with some birding stops along the way and with box lunch, but the idea is to get not too late to our destination.
Some species for this rout we may see are: White-throated Toucan, Chestnut-eared Aracari, Fiery-throated and Scarlet-breasted Fruiteater, Lanceolated Monklet, Mishana and Red-billed Tyrannulet and more.

DAY 3/4 – TWO FULL DAYS AT PLATAFORMA
During this two full days we will be looking for our main targets in this destination which are Scarlet-banded Barbet (E) and Cordillera Azul Antbird (E), and in the area there is some other very important targets as well such the Subtropical Pygmy-owl, Short-tailed Antthush, Ash-browed Spinetail, Gray-tailed Piha, Fiery-throated Fruiteater, Scarlet-breasted Fruiteater, Yellow-throated Spadebill, Foothill Schiffornis, Jet Manakin, Yungas Manakin, Blue-ramped Manakin, Shrike-like Cotinga, Long-tailed Woodcreeper (a foothill race), Roraiman Flycatcher, Green-throated Tanagers among others

DAY 5 – PLATAFORMA TO TARAPOTO
This is basically a travel day but we can put some time in the morning for birding near the Lodge for some birds that we didn’t see previously.
Or we can also do more birding along the way as we travel back to Tarapoto.

DAY 06 - TARAPOTO TO WAQANKI LODGE
Early morning we will go to “La Escalera” a mountain range north from Tarapoto or also known as “The Tunnel”. The birding along the road either side of the TUNNEL is good birding area where we will look for Blackish Pewee, Plumbeous Euphonia and if we are very lucky we could find the elusive Dotted Tanager; and around mid-morning we will visit our first hummingbird feeding station near the TUNNEL where the special one here is one of the Peruvian endemics and patchily distributed Koepcke’s Hermit among some others hummingbirds like: Long-tailed Hermit, Black-throated Hermit, Blue-fronted Lancebill, Gould’s Jewelfront, Black-throated Mango, Violet-headed Hummingbird, Sparkling Violetear, Brown Violetear, Golden-tailed Sapphire, Sapphire-spangled Emerald, Fork-tailed Woodnymph, Long-billed Starthroat, Gray-breasted Sabrewing and more.
And this feeding station also has a trail system, that if we have time we may be exploring it where we could find Golden-headed Manakin, Fiery-capped Manakin, White-plumed Antbird and more.
And after mid-day approximately we will head to Moyobamba with one official birding stop, which is at the Oilbird cave which is just by the road near Moyobamba.
Once we get to Moyobamba at our comfortable “Waqanki Lodge” depending of the arrival time we may be doing some short birding just around the Lodge.
At this Lodge there is another wonderful hummingbird feeding station and the special one here is the Rufous-crested Coquet.

DAY 07/08 – FULL DAYS AT WAQANKI LODGE
Here at this Lodge we have two full days where at least one morning we will be birding along the famous Mysquiyacu trail where we will be looking for some special targets such the Fiery-throated Fruiteater and Scarlet-breasted Fruiteater which are always difficult anywhere, but also we will look for Lafresnaye’s Piculet, Chestnut-throated Spinetail, Peruvian Warbling Antbird, Spot-backed Antbird, Blackish Antbird, Long-tailed Woodcreeper, Tschudi’s Woodcreeper, Black-and-white Tody-tyrant, White-bellied Pygmy-tyrant, Mishana Tyrannulet, Red-billed Tyrannulet, Sooty-headed Tyrannulet, Fiery-capped Manakin, Green Manakin, White-throated Spadebill, Foothill Schiffornis, Yellow-bellied Tanager, Green-and-gold Tanager, Turquoise Tanager, Flame-crested Tanager, Blue Dacnis, Purple Honeycreeper and more. If we are in a good shape we could climb up to the very top of the mountain where it’s found the <strong>Ash-throated Antwren (Endemic and range restricted)</strong> and the Buff-throated Tody-Tyrant and more.
And also we should be spending some time at the Hummingbird feeding station because there is a very good collections of Hummingbirds species apart from the cute Rufous-crested Coquet; like the Black-throated Hermit, Long-tailed Hermit, Great-breasted Sabrewing, Fork-tailed Woodnymph, Sparkling, Lesser (Green) and Brown Violetear, White-chinned and Golden-tailed Sapphire, Blue-fronted Lancebill, Violet-headed Hummingbird and more.
And the surrounding of the Lodge itself we will look for different bird species like the Varzea and Pale-breasted Thrush, Rusty-backed Antwren, Cinereous-breasted Spinetail, Stripe-necked Tody-tyrant, Pearly-vented Tody-Tyrant, Wedge-tailed Grass-finch.
And also in the surrounding of Moyobamba city we will look for Masked Duck, Spotted Rail, Russet-crowned Crake, Pale-eyed Blackbird, Point-tailed Palmcreeper, and more.
And also at this Lodge it’s a great place to see Owls and Nightjars, so some of this nights we will look for Band-bellied Owl, Black-banded Owl, Stygian Owl, Foothill Screech-Owl, Striped Owl, Blackish Nightjar, Spot-tailed Nightjar and Rufous Nightjar.

DAY 09 - WAQANKI LODGE TO OWLET LODGE
Early start to travel to Owlet Lodge with several official birding stops along the way; the first stop will be at Arenas Blanca Reserve where they have hummingbirds feeding station and also grain feeding station where Rufous-breasted Wood-Quail, Little and Cinereous Tinamou, Orange-billed Sparrow.
And some of the special Hummingbird species that we may see are Green Hermit, Reddish Hermit, Black-throated Hermit, Blue-fronted Lancebill, Green-fronted Lancebill, Gray-breasted Sabrewing, Rufous-crested Coquette, Wire-crested Thorntail, Long-billed Starthroat, Many-spotted Hummingbird, Sapphire-spangled Emerald, Golden-tailed Sapphire, Fork-tailed Woodnymph and more.
And continuing our way, the next official stop it’s at Afluente also known as “llantería” which is a good birding section (birding from the road) where we could get great formation of mix-species flocks and also it’s a good chance to see Andean Cock of the Rock, also around the area we could see Peruvian Piedtail (E), Black-mandibled Toucan, Speckle-chested Piculet, Golden-winged Manakin, Scaled Fruiteater, etc.
And then we will continue birding our way to get to Owlet Lodge trying not to get too late.

DAY 10 – 13 OWLET LODGE
Here at this Lodge which is a private Reserve own by a Peruvian NGO “ECOAN” they have an extensive trail system that we will be birding several times along this trail; plus we will be base at this Lodge to go birding along the road covering different elevation range (2200 – 1000 mts) and also spending some time at the Lodge itself where they have great hummingbird feeders where one of the specialties here is the Sword-billed Hummingbird, other hummingbird species we can see there are Long-tailed Sylph, Chestnut-breasted Coronet, White-bellied Woodstar, Fawn-breasted Brilliant, Sparkling Violetear, Lesser Violetear, Speckled Hummingbird, Emerald-bellied Puffleg, Collared Inca, Bronzy Inca and rarely the Rufous-vented Whitetip.
So at this Lodge or from this Lodge we have to move as around to look for several important targets such the <strong>Long-whiskered Owlet (E), Gray-breasted Mountain-Toucan, White-collared Jay, Royal Sunangel (E), White-faced Nunbird, Rufous-vented Tapaculo (E), Ochre-fronted Antpitta (E), Chestnut Antpitta (E), and Rusty-tinged Antpitta (E), Equatorial Graytail, Johnson’s Tody-Flycatcher (E), Cinnamon-breasted Tody-Tyrant, (NE), Bar-winged Wood-Wren (E), Yellow-scarfed Tanager (E), White-capped Tanager, Blue-browed and Green-throated Tanager and more.</strong>
And some other birds include Crested and Golden-headed Quetzal, Lanceolated Monklet, Masked Trogon, Scaly-napped Parrot, Crimson-mantled Woodpecker, Tyrannine Woodcreeper, Streak-headed Antbird, Ecuadorian Tyrannulet, Sulphur-bellied Tyrannulet, Black-capped Tyrannulet, Bicolored Antvireo, Sharpe’s Wren, Green-and-black Fruiteater, Black-capped Hemispingus, Black-crested Warbler.
Also one day we will go to San Lorenzo which is near-by, it’s a particular birding site for the <strong>Pale-billed Antpitta</strong> another Peruvian endemic among few others like the <strong>Russet-mantled Softtail</strong> <strong>(E)</strong> also endemic and Red-hooded Tanager, Barred Fruiteater, Gray-breasted Montain-Toucan and after mid-morning we will also visit HUEMBO LODGE where the amazing Peruvian endemic Marvelous Spatuletail comes to the feeders among others like Purple-throated Sunangel (NE), Andean Emerald, White-bellied Hummingbird, Little Woodstar, etc.
We will have a box-lunch at this place and in the late afternoon we will go back to the Lodge.
From the Lodge we will be birding lower elevation where we will be looking for different species like Crested Quetzal, Golden-headed Quetzal, Equatorial Graytail, Red-billed Parrot, Yellow-throated Toucan, Golden-olive Woodpecker, Olive-backed Woodcreeper, Buff-fronted Foliage-gleaner, Montane Foliage-gleaner, Ash-browed Spinetail, Streaked Xenops, Lined Antshrike, Blackish Antbird, Rufous-rumped Antwren, Yellow-breasted Antwren, Northern White-crowned Tapaculo, Versicolored Barbet, Peruvian Piedtail (E), Black-streaked Puffbird, Lanceolated Monklet, Ornate Flycatcher, Olive-chested Flycatcher, Golden-winged Manakin, Gray-mantled Wren, Black-bellied (Huallaga) Tanager (E), Vermilion Tanager, Olivaceous Greenlet, Scarlet-rumped (Subtropical) Cacique and many more.

DAY 14 – OWLET LODGE TO TARAPOTO – and fly back to Lima – END OF THE TOUR
Early departure to Tarapoto straight to the Airport for caching the late afternoon fly to Lima – END OF THE TRIP.
